Project Spotlight
Data Centers

The data center construction market is experiencing significant growth, with projections to reach a value of $400 billion by 2031. The main drivers in this growth include the increasing adoption of cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and the proliferation of connected devices.
As the need for more data centers increases, Utility Concrete Products continues to expand to meet the industry’s demands. In the past year alone UCP has supplied hundreds of precast electrical structures for data centers in Illinois and the surrounding states. We have developed our standard products to offer additional manhole sizes including 8’x8’, 10’x10’, 12’x12’ and more, all at various interior heights to meet any project’s needs.

Railway Retaining Wall & Bridge Solutions

When Union Pacific and Metra unveiled their plans to expand rail capacity from West Chicago through Geneva, it was clear that the project was ideal for innovative and efficient precast solutions to meet the unique demands of the rail-development initiative.
Elevate Infrastructure was proud to collaborate with the project team to deliver cutting-edge retaining wall designs that addressed the complex site requirements while ensuring a sustainable, maintenance-free foundation for future track expansions. The retaining walls played a critical role in supporting rail traffic and embankments, all while minimizing impacts to the adjacent properties. Elevate Infrastructure engineered post-and-panel retaining walls tailored to the project’s needs, combining structural integrity with a narrow profile to maximize the available development area.
In addition to the retaining walls, the project included a precast deck structure to enhance sustainability, accelerate construction, and improve safety. The U-shaped precast deck panels were designed to dry-fit in the field and mechanically connect to the steel superstructure, effectively retaining ballast and supporting the additional track over the river. Utility Concrete Products manufactured 67 “mini-segments,” each complete with parapets, drain openings, and sleeves for rail mounts. These units were delivered in a carefully coordinated sequence to ensure a streamlined and efficient construction process.
Throughout the project, UCP and Elevate Infrastructure worked closely with the contractor and owner to provide cost-effective and reliable solutions capable of withstanding the rigors of railway operations.

Elevate Infrastructure’s Precast Counterfort Wall Enhances I-294

As part of I-294’s southbound reconstruction, performance-based retaining walls were specified to optimize costs and timelines while reducing public impact. Installed just south of the Hinsdale Oasis, Elevate Infrastructure’s patented Precast Counterfort Wall was the perfect solution for the project!
Designed to reduce excavation and haul-off requirements, the wall utilizes on-site backfill, eliminating the need for costly select granular materials. Despite challenges such as tight radii, utility conflicts, and poor foundation soils, the 1,200-foot-long wall was installed in just eight working days. This accelerated construction timeline not only reduced dewatering efforts but also minimized disruptions to the traveling public.
Working in collaboration with Utility Concrete Products, the installing contractor, and the Illinois Tollway, Elevate Infrastructure ensured a seamless execution. The robust 45,000-pound precast units now stand ready to support I-294 traffic for generations.

Laraway Road Noise Abatement Wall

Will County is currently underway with their five year transportation improvement program consisting of multiple contracts, but most noteworthy of all are the Noise Abatement Wall systems on Laraway and Bell Road. This major eight mile reconstruction is well under way and will help improve the developing community by accommodating future traffic demands while ensuring a safe and efficient traffic flow.
Utility Concrete Products is the leading precast supplier of noise wall products with hundreds of thousands of square feet projected for DOT projects over the next few years. On this project alone we delivered roughly 400 noise wall panels and 200 precast concrete columns, with additional sections to be installed on Bell Road next year. Not only can we deliver high volumes, we are also exceptionally proficient at implementing unique aesthetic features as can be seen with the fence stone texture and beautiful multi-color stain. The featured photos don’t do the panels justice with how well the overall NAW system blends into the surrounding community, so take a look for yourself next time you are heading down Laraway Road!
